Twist & Shout opened its doors in 1988. Since then we’ve moved and expanded two times to our current location at 2508 Colfax Avenue, about a mile and a half east of downtown Denver. As the music industry changes and the cool record store has become a dying breed, we’ve remained through thick and thin, going strong into our 21st year and beyond. We have a terrific selection of CDs, covering all types of music: rock, rap, jazz, classical, heavy metal, international music and more. Twist & Shout is proud to have a strong focus on our local music scene and have a large selection of Colorado’s finest bands – come in and discover the next Fray, Flobots, or Devotchka in our local bins. We feature new and used vinyl in all genres and Denver’s largest selection of DVD and Blu-Ray, specializing in independent and foreign releases. And if we don’t have it in stock, we can almost always order it, even if it’s out of print. We also have a wide selection of gift items, including clothing, toys, posters, and collectables. We even sell new and used stereo equipment and offer a repair service for equipment. Twist & Shout has been honored to host free in-store performances by dozens of musicians, including Elvis Costello, Suzanne Vega, Trey Anastasio, and Taj Mahal. Several have even been recorded for release – look for “Live at Twist & Shout” releases from Ben Harper, John Butler, Matisyahu, Jason Isbell, Colorado’s own Paperbird and more.
